Just recently I took my dog, Cocoa, to a local dog park on Cocoa Beach and there was an older gentleman there with a Florida Gator's shirt on. It was the Gator's football shirt that triggered a conversation about the televisions series of "Miami Vice" where Don Johnson played the main character, Sonny Crockett, who had been the quarterback for the College football team called Florida Gators. Sonny had also had a pet alligator on his yacht he called Elvis in addition Sonny was known for being the vice cop who drove a black Ferrari!
The second movie of the series called "The Prodigal Son" was shot in the middle of Manhatten aka New York City! One scene of the film where Sonny and his partner, Rico Tubbs came under fire from some hired hit men! Tubbs basicly waited behind a truck on the road for a chance to shoot them first before they could shoot him! Sonny on the other hand wound up running down the road so fast that the hit men really couldn't have shot him if they'd tried!
One thing leads to another! Back early in his career Don Johnson had starred in a cult film called "A Boy and His Dog" which was where Don Johnson's lead character carried on telepathic conversations with a dog. In one key scene when the two went to their version of the movies, Don's character Vic didn't buy the dog some popcorn. So in return the dog simply said ''...Next time you play with yourself I hope you go blind". The significance of this is that I was able to cross reference it to something rock star, Sting said one time on the show program I got from his "Nothing Like the Sun" tour. There was a profile on each of the members of Sting's solo band including him and one of the questions asked everyone including him was "What Is Like to Play with Sting". When this same question came up for Sting himself to answer he simply said "I haven't gone blind yet". I've always been so innocent about this kind of thing, not to mention not quite ready for his dry sense of humor, and as result I didn't quite get what Sting was saying until I happened to see "A Boy and His Dog" later. So in the middle of the whole thing when I was watching this cult film I suddenly said "Oh Sting" outloud! I'm sure I probably explained this to everyone else later. This of course is just the beginning! I got up from the couch where I had been watching this film grabbed the concert program and re-read the question as well as the answer and cracked up as I realized he wasn't talking about playing his bass guitar!
Now this might seem unconnected as well, but the fact that there those who, for the most part speak, English it doen't mean that they don't speak another language so to speak. English people not only are known for their dry sense of humor, but the simply use words differently especially slang and also profanity! What will mean one thing to an American will mean something different to and English person! In the second film of the "Harry Potter" series called "The Chamber of Secrets" when Harry first meets Ron's father, Mr. Weasley; Harry is asked "What is the function of a Rubber Duck"? When I first heard this part it didn't dawn on me what that line might have been intended as until I remembered something else that happened to me personally that frankly would've never been thought of as being connected in anyway! In fact this al;most drove my niece nuts and I had refused to tell her why I laughed about it as it does get just a little risque!
I remembered this bizarre dream I had not long after my pet baby duck went missing. It involved two members of the rock band "The Police" namely Stewart Armstrong Copeland and Andrew James Summers. I told them I was looking for my duck and the two of them kept saying something about a rubber duck. I was so innocent in the matter that I had no idea what the heck this meant until Sting finally explained to me that it was the rain jacket that a man's willy wears aka a condom! I blushed redder than a beet and Sting found it irresistable! Sting absolutely loves my southern accent and I've always had this air of innocence about me that kind of makes my like Sandy to his version Danny in the musical Grease!
